Four die in Bahamas air crash

(CNN) — Four people, believed to be U.S. citizens, died Sunday in a small plane crash in the Bahamas, police say.

The single-engine plane — apparently on a sightseeing tour — left the international airport in Grand Bahama shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday. Moments later, it crashed in the waters about four miles away, said Stephen Dean, police superintendent with the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

The Cirrus SR 22 broke into pieces. An investigation is under way.
